Position Details

• Unit: ICU (6 beds, located on 4th floor)
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Patient Population: Geriatric, adult, pediatrics (rarely)
• EHR System: Meditech
• Equipment: Phillips ICU Monitor, Baxter IV pumps, bladder scanner

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license for Virginia
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Experience: Minimum 2+ years ICU experience (critical care experience preferred)
• Skills/Experience Must Have:

  • Ventilator experience (trach and ETT)
  • Titrating sedation drips (Versed, Propofol, Fentanyl)
  • Titrating vasopressors
  • Experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone drips
  • Experience with DKA insulin drips
  • CVP lines, arterial lines (rarely)
  • Defibrillation and medication management during code blue
  • Cardioversion

Additional Information

• Float Requirements: Rotate taking turns to float to other departments when ICU census is low
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Respiratory failure, CHF, Afib RVR, DKA, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, chronic ventilator patients (trach and PEG tubes), post-op bowel resection critical care
• Dress Code:

  • Scrubs: Any solid color
  • No printed scrubs or printed t-shirts (solid or hospital logo t-shirts allowed)
  • No pull-over hooded sweatshirts

This position offers an opportunity to work in a 100-bed hospital with a Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval, serving a primary service area of approximately 36,000 individuals.
