Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
  • Unit: SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit)
  • Location: Dallas, Texas
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Details to be discussed during interview; guaranteed 36 hours/week
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
  • Number of Beds: 16
  • Scheduling: Flexible, schedule provided one month in advance
  • Floating Policy: As needed

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Years of ICU Experience: Minimum 2 years
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Licenses: Active Texas RN license (temporary licenses not accepted)
  • Preferred Certifications: CCRN preferred
  • Additional Certifications: NIH Certification mentioned

Skills & Procedures

  • Must Have:
    • 2+ years ICU experience
    • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
    • Hypothermia protocol
    • Meditech documentation system experience preferred
  • Procedures Performed on Unit:
    • Central line placements
    • Bedside procedures such as thoracentesis
    • Dialysis catheter placements
    • Cardioversions
    • Intubations
    • Other ICU procedures

Patient Population

  • Primarily surgical patients, especially oncology cases

Equipment Used

  • ICU equipment including ventilators, NXStage, Arctic Sun, GE Cardiac Output monitor

Dress Code & Appearance

  • Scrub Color: Royal Blue for RNs
  • Nail Policy: Clean and healthy nails; no artificial nails, gel, or next-gen enhancements
  • Hair: Neat and clean; no extreme styles or colors; hair must be pulled back if shoulder length or longer when working in the lab
  • Facial Hair: Beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be clean and neatly trimmed
  • Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; exceptions addressed individually
  • Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; no visible piercings such as nose or tongue rings

Additional Notes

  • Call requirements and weekend shifts to be discussed during interview
  • Attendance policies follow company-wide standards
