  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

  • 27-bed Intensive Care Unit with Beacon Designation
  • Specialty in trauma and surgical patient care
  • Patient population includes traumatic injuries such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), extremity fractures, and solid organ injuries
  • Surgical patients include those recovering from craniotomies, craniectomies, and multiple bowel surgeries
  • Fast-paced, multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment

Work Schedule

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours guaranteed weekly)
  • May be required to float within competency level
  • Required to pick up one additional shift every 4 weeks
  • May work weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • Call is not required
  • Employer may cancel shifts with 48 hours’ notice due to low census during the 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Nevada
  • Minimum 2 years of Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including families/caregivers
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
  • Manage care for trauma and surgical patients with complex needs
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain cognitive and psychosocial support tailored to patient population
  • Deliver care in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment requiring continuous mental effort and sound clinical judgment

  • Approximately 800 inpatient beds and 80 emergency department beds
  • High patient volume comparable to a Level I trauma center
  • Advanced technology and specialized services including:
    • Accredited heart failure center
    • Institute for Neurosciences
    • Low-dose CT imaging
    • Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System
    • PET/CT scanner, Biplane Angiography, and 3T MRI technologies
