Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel)

Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Hours per Week: 36
On-Call: No on-call required
Weekend Shifts: 4 weekend shifts scheduled

Unit Overview

Level 4 designated maternal center providing the highest level of care for complex patients at any gestation.
22 beds total (16 labor beds).
Approximately 100 staff including RNs and support personnel.
Day shift staffing typically includes 1 charge nurse, minimum 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk, and about 10 RNs.
Patient ratios range from 1:2 to 1:1.
Unit is undergoing renovation to update all rooms.
Recognized as America’s Best Maternity Hospital 2023 and holds a Leap Frog Grade A- (only hospital in Texas with straight A’s since inception).
Team-oriented environment with long-term leadership supportive of staff; leadership may assist with patient care as needed.

Typical Procedures

Vaginal and Cesarean section deliveries
Tubal ligations
Cerclage placement and removal
Dilation and curettage (D&C)
C-hyst and PASD cases

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
Experience working with high-risk maternal and maternal-fetal patients
Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN, BLS, NRP

Team player essential.
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs required.
Standardized order sets and unit policies available for review.

Additional Information

The unit recruits travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters.
Strong emphasis on teamwork and support.
New equipment and technology being introduced as part of ongoing renovations.
