Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg / Neuroscience

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks (3 months)
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (candidate’s choice)
Weekend Requirement: Rotating, typically every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Call Requirements: None

Unit & Patient Care Information

• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit specializing in Neurosurgical patients
• Patient Population: Neuro-surgical patients including those with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal neurological diagnoses, and post-neurosurgery care
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: FIT test required on site
• Float Requirements: As needed within scope of practice
• Dress Code: Black scrubs required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of neurology experience, with neurology experience within the last year
• Experience in Charge Nurse roles
• Must be a team player and patient-focused

Work Expectations

• Standard weekend coverage approximately every other weekend
• Expected to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)
• Up to 5 days off per 13-week contract can be automatically approved; additional time off requires leadership approval and may need to be made up

Job Overview

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process in a Neurosurgical unit
• Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients
• Coordinate patient care with other departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
