Overview

Travel RN position in North Carolina
13-week contract
36 hours per week
Shifts: 7A or 7P
Every other or every third weekend
No call requirements
Float required
Orientation is bi-weekly

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience)
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred

NIH Certification
Associate degree; BSN preferred

Experience / Skills

Meditech experience preferred
EKG interpretation and critical thinking skills are a plus
Ability to manage discharges and admissions
Basic cardiac drip knowledge

Telemetry / Med-Surg Overflow
Adult and geriatric patient population
22 beds
Typical patient ratio: 5:1 or 6:1

Additional Notes

Local candidates must be 60 miles or greater to be considered travel
Artificial nails are not allowed

Pros

Doctors and most of staff are nice. Surgeries are not hard.

Cons

No staff so a lot of call. You will be on call within your first week or two, even if you don't know how to do anything. Unorganized. The director and supervisor don't know anything about the OR nor are they helpful. New staff are not properly trained. Everything falls on the OR nurse to do. They preop in house patients getting surgery. A couple of OR staff are bullies and lazy, they all think they are the boss. They tell the charge nurse what they are going to do and not going to do. Its like high school all over. Had to leave out of fear for my license.
