Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Call Requirements: None
Unit and Patient Care Information
- Unit: Neurology 6C
- Number of Beds: 32
- Patient Types: Neurology, Medical, Medical Telemetry
- Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Day 1:5-1:6, Night 1:6-1:7; ratios not guaranteed)
- Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
- Float: Rotational basis within the unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start
- Experience and competence in drug titration
- Valid Driver's License
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Utilize the nursing process to care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
- Adhere to nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility standards
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.; minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high risk
- May require working varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs
Dress Code
- Scrubs must be black
- No other scrub colors or attire permitted
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made after the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
- Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
