Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Call Requirements: None


Unit and Patient Care Information

  • Unit: Neurology 6C
  • Number of Beds: 32
  • Patient Types: Neurology, Medical, Medical Telemetry
  • Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Day 1:5-1:6, Night 1:6-1:7; ratios not guaranteed)
  • Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
  • Float: Rotational basis within the unit

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start
  • Experience and competence in drug titration
  • Valid Driver's License

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Utilize the nursing process to care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
  • Adhere to nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility standards

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.; minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high risk
  • May require working varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs

Dress Code

  • Scrubs must be black
  • No other scrub colors or attire permitted

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
  • Time off requests (RTO) must be made after the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
  • Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
