Specialty & Patient Population

• Acute Medical/Surgical unit
• Patient types include Orthopedics, Colorectal, Urology, Sepsis, Small Bowel Obstruction (SBO), and Geriatric Gynecology

Job Summary

• Independently provide routine and complex nursing care in an acute med/surg setting
• Manage clinical situations by making appropriate assignments and delegations
• Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
