Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Job Overview

• Backfill position in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department
• Facility serves a diverse patient population including ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma cases
• Emergency Department has 48 beds with flex space
• Patient ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
• Team nursing and Pod System model with social worker and unit educator support
• Equipment includes Zoll Defibrillator, Level One Blood Transfuser, QinFlow Blood Warmer, Hospira Plum360, Freestyle and iSTAT point-of-care testing, and Ultrasound Guided IV
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Schedule & Hours

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Minimum of two weekends per schedule
• No call requirements
• No float requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current certifications from the American Heart Association:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Experience with stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and moderate sedation

Skills & Experience

• Must have experience with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
• Preferred: 2 years Emergency Department experience
• Common diagnoses treated include ESRD, substance abuse disorders, psychological disorders, COPD, CHF, abdominal pain, and chest pain

• Patient population includes adult and pediatric patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs
• Located in a scenic area with access to outdoor activities and nearby cities for recreation
