Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Float: Yes, with required competencies
- Number of Beds: 48
- Patient Diagnoses:
Sepsis, CIWA, Confusion, AMS, COPD, Post-op care, AKI, Trauma, Respiratory failure, Bowel obstruction, Pyelonephritis, Cardiac conditions, Diabetes, GI conditions, Isolation, Suicidal ideation with medical indications
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- RN Idaho license
- ACLS (within 12 months of hire)
Essential Job Functions
- Apply the Nursing Process across all age groups: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
- Thorough documentation following regulatory and hospital standards
- Maintain clinical competencies and professional development
- Adapt to varied shifts including weekends and holidays
- Work in a busy, dynamic environment with changing patient safety requirements
Skills & Abilities
- Good judgment, patience, and professionalism
- Ability to work under stress and adapt to practice changes
- Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records
- Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and math skills
- Teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Location Requirement
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility to qualify
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination as required
- Skills checklist and work history verification
Additional Notes
- Must be able to float to other units with competencies
- Orientation and competency exams required as applicable
- Various certifications may be required depending on patient population (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification)
This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced environment and meet the specified licensing and certification requirements.
