Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Greenwich, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (11:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Call: 1-2 times per week from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Weekends and holidays required as needed
  • Facility size: 186 beds
  • Magnet and teaching hospital status
  • Charting system: Epic (experience required)
  • Scrubs provided
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation

  • RN orientation every other Monday at this campus
  • Next orientation options available on 7/13 or 7/27

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Verification of highest level of education required; foreign equivalency evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
  • Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required if applicable to certain units (not typically OR)

Certifications and Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or ARC only (preferred)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA or ARC only (preferred)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% passing score
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates (effective 8/2/2024), minimum 80% passing score
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for RNs in telemetry and critical care units (not required for OR)

  • eCart Training Module (not required for OR)
  • Chaperone Policy Training required
  • Fire Safety Module required (effective 5/4/2026)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be clean shaven for fit testing
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
  • Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor and delivery, postpartum (not required)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31); declinations not allowed
  • COVID vaccination series preferred
