Job Opportunity: Pediatric Dialysis Registered Nurse
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (08:30 AM – 08:30 PM)
- Day and evening shifts available
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays as needed
- On-call responsibility on weekdays and weekends may be assigned (maximum 3 on-call shifts per 6 weeks)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient Hemodialysis experience in a Level 1 Trauma or similar size hospital
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required to meet standard clinical candidate requirements
- Physical exam must be collected within 1 year (Aya standard)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if working in Microbiology)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Telemetry testing (Adult and Pediatric) required and must be passed with specific criteria:
- Minimum 80% overall score
- 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- 100% in heart block questions (for adult telemetry)
- Candidates allowed up to 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness testing required within 12 months if working in dialysis or laboratory
Additional Requirements
- Completion of Wisconsin BID form (state-mandated) and caregiver screening results must be maintained in compliance file
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, solid background, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail telemetry testing
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Pediatric Dialysis experience (minimum 2 years), including experience within the last year
- Experience working with both pediatric and adult patients
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Summary
This travel contract position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with pediatric dialysis and inpatient hemodialysis experience, who is comfortable working 12-hour day/evening shifts with on-call duties. Candidates must be licensed in Wisconsin, have required certifications, and pass rigorous telemetry testing. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency exams is mandatory.
Note: All certifications must be American Heart Association (AHA) issued and kept current according to facility renewal policies.
