Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: 14-bed ICU with open heart program, neurosurgery, stroke unit, level 2 trauma, ECMO stabilize and ship program, STEMI, manual proning, sepsis care, IABP, CRRT, UST and RRT teams
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12)
  • Ratios: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: To be discussed
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours: 36 hours/week
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours: 48 hours/week
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Pending License: Not accepted; must have in-state license and required certifications in hand before start

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) RN experience, including ICU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

  • Short-term acute care facility
  • Total staffed beds: 194
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Free parking
  • Scrub color: red top, black bottoms

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background checks including 7-year history, national sex offender, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Unit competency exam
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TB test within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
  • Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
  • No pending licenses accepted; all credentials must be current and verified before start
  • First-time travel nurses are not accepted for this position
  • Floating within scope may be required to meet unit needs

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who hold an active Indiana RN license and required certifications.
