Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical AM Shift

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • One year or more of total travel nursing experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience managing nurse-to-patient ratios, typically 1:4-6
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Experience using Epic electronic health record system

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Fit test for N95 respirators or PAPR (annual requirement)
  • Immunizations and/or titers required prior to start:
    • MMR (2 vaccinations or positive IgG titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccinations or positive IgG titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or declination accepted
  • Tuberculosis testing completed within 30 days prior to start (2-step skin test or QuantiFERON/T-Spot; chest x-ray if prior positive)
  • Physical/health statement within 1 year
  • 9-panel drug screen completed within 90 days prior to start (must be repeated with any break in service)

Background and Compliance

  • Criminal background check completed within 90 days prior to start, including 7-year county and national checks, SSN trace, and nationwide sex offender and exclusion lists
  • I-9 E-Verify attestation required
  • Badge photo meeting specified criteria (color, recent, professional)

Additional Information

  • Influenza vaccine is optional but may be required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with possible exemptions
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is optional and specific to neuro or inpatient units, not required for this role
  • Specialty and pharmacology exams are optional but recommended for RNs, with an 80% pass rate required if completed

This position is a 13-week long-term assignment on the Medical/Surgical unit during the day shift. Candidates must meet all licensing, certification, health, and compliance requirements prior to assignment start.
