Job Summary

  • Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process.
  • Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols.
  • Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, oxygen pumps, and interpret electronic displays including intracranial and central venous pressures.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Engage in meaningful communication with patients and families through hourly rounding and bedside reporting.
  • Support early mobility efforts for ventilated patients.
  • Participate in professional development and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum 3 years of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Proficient in specialized equipment monitoring
  • Skilled in intracranial pressure monitoring
  • Skilled in central venous pressure monitoring

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in nursing process, patient care, and documentation.
  • Skilled in patient assessment and plan of care development.
  • Experienced with nursing interventions and specialized equipment monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and intracranial/central venous pressure monitoring.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
