Surgery Tech

Location: Miles City, Montana
Contract length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Overview

Performs duties as a member of the surgical team to support safe and successful operative procedures. The role works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports to Surgical Services management.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist (2 years of experience)
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• BLS
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years

Preferred Qualifications

• Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery.
• Certified Surgical Technologist.

• Surgical team support.
• Sterile field management.
• Sterile processing.
• Sterilization processes and requirements.
• Emergency response in surgical care.
• Supervision within surgical services.
• Life support situations related to surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accountability for operating room and surgical item sterilization criteria.
• Maintain the sterile field and a safe environment.
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
• Assist with sterile processing.
• Assist surgeons during procedures within ORT scope of practice.
• Identify emergency situations and respond appropriately.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure.
