Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience for a 46-bed telemetry unit. The unit provides care with patient ratios of 4:1 to 5:1 and uses advanced equipment including GE Apex Pro Telemetry, Hoyer lift, Baxter IV pumps, and Meditech Expanse documentation system. The schedule includes three 12-hour shifts per week with every other weekend required. Floating to post-surgical med/surg or PCU tele overflow may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years experience in a hospital setting
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPAP and BiPAP management
- Therapeutic phlebotomy
- Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience
- Management and titration of cardiac and anti-arrhythmic IV infusions
Skills and Experience
- Telemetry and EKG interpretation
- Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) care
- Management and titration of cardiac and anti-arrhythmic IV infusions
- CPAP and BiPAP management
- Port access and therapeutic phlebotomy
Preferred advanced skills:
- Chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains
- Post-dialysis assessment
- Central line care
- Blood transfusions
Unit Environment
- Supported by Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurses), RNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, and Unit Clerks
- Excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with providers
- Fully supported by a director, manager, and clinical educator
- Use of GroupMe for team communication and celebrations
- Low turnover with a stable, experienced nursing staff
- Continuous acquisition of new equipment and supplies
- Patient-centered care philosophy with a focus on safety and quality
Scheduling and Policies
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to related units as needed
- Dress code: Navy blue or gray scrubs (no royal blue scrubs allowed)
- Unit-specific policies and guidelines available upon request
