Shift: Nights, 6:30pm – 7:00am (floating and call required)
Job Description
Provide nursing care to Emergency Room patients using the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe patient care delivery in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department. Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education. Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience. Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Emergency Department, Level 3 Trauma
- Patient ratio: 4:1
- Floating required
- Call requirement: Must be available 2 hours prior to shift start, at minimum
- Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are NOT approved
- One summer and one winter blackout date or required holiday, dependent on department needs
- Maximum return to office (RTO): 1 per schedule; 6-week scheduling cycle
- Scrub color: None required, full uniform expected
- Electronic Medical Record system: MedHost (EDIS)
- Fingerprints required for all travelers to New Mexico (agency must be registered with the state for fingerprinting process)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NIHSS

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Floating and call responsibilities are mandatory
- Must be able to respond to call 2 hours before shift start
