Registered Nurse — Emergency Department Float Pool

Location

• Centennial, Colorado

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts
• Evening and night shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• 2 years of emergency department experience

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• Travelers must float within a 60-mile zone
• No home base facility
• Must be in state for the week of orientation
• Must give 2 weeks’ notice to avoid a back-out penalty fee
• Cannot miss more than 3 shifts in the 13-week contract

Unit Details

• Emergency department float role
• Patient ratio: 1:4–5 based on acuity
• Average daily volume varies by location, 40–168 patients per day
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• No monitor techs; nurse must be able to read and interpret telemetry
• RT is available 24/7
• Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses, and help with triage
• Nurses will be trained to perform point-of-care lab testing

• 2–3 days of unit/department orientation
