Labor & Delivery RN Travel Assignment

Location: Mount Shasta, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Labor & Delivery
• Unit: Family Birth Center (L&D) with 3 rooms
• Patient Volume: Approximately 150-175 births per year
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:4
• EMR System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse role available
• No nurse aides on unit
• No telehealth, vents, or IV team support
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Pharmacy not available 24/7
• Floating required primarily to MedSurg for tasking
• Floor-specific orientation: Minimum 2 days per floating unit, adjusted for experience and comfort level
• Work Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend (EOW)
• Scrub Color: Hospital-issued Ceil Blue
• Holidays: Work in permanent staff rotation

Patient Care Notes

• May be the only L&D nurse on site; a second L&D nurse is on call
• During C-sections, expected to care for the baby with assistance from RT and anesthesia
• Babies born at 36 weeks or less are typically transferred to higher-level facilities

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Active California RN license
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Advanced AWHONN (Advanced Fetal Monitoring)
• COVID-19 vaccination required

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
• Floating and cross-coverage with MedSurg may be necessary
