Pediatric/Neonatal Respiratory Therapist Position

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Specialty: Pediatric and Neonatal Respiratory Therapy
• Department: Respiratory Therapy (RT)
• Patient Population: Pediatrics and Neonates
• Work Areas: NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
• Treatments per Day: 20-25

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in PICU and/or Level III or higher NICU
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) preferred; CRT may be acceptable

Job Duties

• Provide all aspects of respiratory care including:

  • Use of aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, NAVA
  • Operation of Hamilton and Servo ventilators
  • Airway management
  • Intrahospital transport
• Assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)

Scheduling & Shifts

• Preference scheduling allowed with commitment to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (weekends include Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• 3x12 hour night shifts orientation
• Holidays scheduled as needed
• Staffing: Typically 8 RTs per shift; RT will not be the only therapist on duty
• No floating or call/standby requirements

Equipment Used

• Ventilators: Hamilton and Servo
• BiPAP: Respironics & Hamilton
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC): Fisher Paykel

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Stone/light gray scrubs
• Hospitalist or Intensivist available in-house
• Department-specific orientation provided, length depends on prior experience
