Labor and Delivery RN

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour nights
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Scheduled 4 weeks in advance

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license
• 2 years of experience
• At least 1 year of LDRP experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
• AWHONN Advanced EFM
• Comfortable titrating drips
• OR circulating experience
• Able to work on-call/standby and arrive within 30 minutes of call back

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in this setting

Unit Details

• Family Birthing Center / LDRP
• 2 OBED beds
• 7 LDRP beds
• 4–8 overflow postpartum beds
• 1 OR suite for C-sections
• NICU with 2 beds for newborn stabilization
• 70–80 births per month
• NST antepartum testing averages 60–70 per month

Clinical Expectations

• Cares for patients 35 weeks and above
• May do twin deliveries
• Preterm patients under 35 weeks are transferred to a higher level of care
• Must be comfortable with NRP at delivery
• Titrates pitocin and occasional insulin
• RT attends every delivery and assists with respiratory support and equipment
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit
• OB is in house 24/7
• Anesthesia is on call with a 20-minute response time when not in house
• If a patient receives general anesthesia, recovery occurs in the Main PACU
• May be placed on-call/standby on scheduled shifts
• Floating to other Sacramento facilities
• No CNAs; one OB Tech scheduled each shift

Additional Notes

• Will not accept a candidate who only has postpartum experience
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the last 12 months
• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed
