Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Facility: ICU at a medical center (20 staffed beds)

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
• Days: Various days of the week
• Patient Ratio: 1:2-3
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, 6 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• On-call: Yes, as needed by unit
• Floating: Required within scope to all ICUs and occasionally Medical/Surgical units
• Charting System: EPIC
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Patient Diagnoses: Sepsis, respiratory distress/failure, post-surgical care, overdose, suicide attempts, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Special Equipment: Flotrack, Philips bedside monitor, Baxter IV pump

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Colorado RN License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Time Off / Scheduling Notes

• Maximum 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
• No RTO allowed during these blackout periods:

  • December 21, 2025 – January 3, 2026
  • March 14 – March 21, 2026
  • May 8 – May 11, 2026
  • May 21 – May 27, 2026
• Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• I9 or Attestation
• Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
• E-Verify or Attestation
• Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
• 7-year Background Check (including SSN Trace, Colorado Statewide CBI, Education Verification, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List) within 60 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
• Education Verification (3rd party or transcript/diploma)
• NURSYS Verification for RN license within 60 days of start
• Colorado CAPS Check Results within 60 days of start
• Employment Application and Work History Verification (3 years, including explanations for gaps)
• 2 Professional References from last 2 years (one within last year) from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above
• Skills Checklist annually
• Compliance with facility-specific checklists and employee data requirements

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
• Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start and annually (specific approved masks)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 1 year
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates if positive TB history
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season (mandatory)
• COVID-19 Vaccination or signed declination (Dose 1, Fully Vaccinated, Booster)
• Color Blindness Testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)

Competency Exams (Required within 1 year of start and updated annually)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
• Core Part I, II, III (minimum 80% score)
• OSHA Mandatory Training (minimum 80% score)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to float to other ICU units and occasionally to Medical/Surgical units as needed.
• Weekend and on-call shifts are required.
• Candidates must maintain all certifications and renewals to avoid clearance issues.
• Flexibility on time off may be considered for difficult-to-fill roles.
