Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Job Description

• Must be highly proficient in ophthalmology (adult & pediatrics), pediatric orthopedics, pediatric general surgery, and pediatric ENT.
• Minimum 3 years of circulator experience required.
• EPIC experience is required.
• On-call requirement.
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
• Upon starting, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of a relief team.

Shift: Day shift, 0615 - 1845 (12-hour shift)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients.
• Highly proficient in adult and pediatric ophthalmology.
• Highly proficient in pediatric orthopedics, pediatric general surgery, and pediatric ENT.
• Experience with ophthalmology, orthopedics, and pediatrics specialties.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of circulator experience in Operating Room nursing.
• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy).
• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
• Education verification of highest level completed.
• Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
• License verification within 30 days of start; renewal must be completed prior to start if expiring soon.
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for certain units)
  • TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity verification
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination series
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
• Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, color).
• Skills checklist and employment application required, including 7 years employment history and explanation of gaps.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments and potential extended stays during emergency events.
• Onsite fit testing for N95 masks may be required if not completed prior to start.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit.
• Competency exams specific to specialty must be completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room RNs with strong pediatric and ophthalmology skills, EPIC proficiency, and prior travel contract experience.
