Nurse Navigator (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM), 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends or holidays
Job Description
- Role focuses on advanced heart failure patient navigation in an ambulatory clinic setting.
- Responsibilities include patient assessments, interpretation of laboratory results, cardiovascular care, medication administration, and office duties such as chart preparation, disability forms, telephone triage, and follow-up phone calls.
- Preferred experience in cardiology and family care clinics.
- Scrub color: Cranberry/Wine.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 3 years of Nurse Navigator experience, including experience within the last year.
- Completion of one or more travel nursing assignments.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Skills
- Patient assessments and cardiovascular care.
- Interpretation of laboratory results.
- Medication administration.
- Office and administrative duties related to patient care.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function.
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB).
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers.
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually, including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams if applicable.

- This position is local within 60 miles of the facility.
- No weekend or holiday shifts.
- Annual recertification and compliance requirements apply for ongoing employment.
- Background checks and health screenings must be kept current per facility policy.
