Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer (Travel/Contract)

Location: Billings, Montana
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform primarily outpatient transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), averaging 7–9 echoes per day.
• Must be proficient in stress echocardiograms, including treadmill and Dobutamine stress echo.
• Responsible for prepping stress tests, taking blood pressures, and operating the stress cart.
• Must be highly skilled with Philips Epiq ultrasound machines and able to scan 10 patients in a 10-hour shift.

Required Qualifications

• Cardiac Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience.
• Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year.

Experience

• Minimum years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty: Not explicitly stated; proficiency and ability to perform independently required.
• Prior travel experience: Not required (no mention of prior travel contract requirement).

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.

  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (or declination within last year)
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred within 10 years or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 – Mar 31) or approved exemption.
• COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Negative drug screen within 30 days of start, renewed annually, covering a comprehensive 9-panel plus additional substances.
• Quantitative fit test with a 3M mask within 90 days prior to start (qualitative tests not accepted), renewed annually. Religious exemptions evaluated case-by-case.

Background and Documentation

• 7-year background check required within 30 days of start, renewed annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest level completed.
• Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two references required, including one direct supervisor reference within the last year. Letters accepted.
• Work history verification preferred for last 5 years.

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient echo lab environment.
• Compliance with facility-specific OSHA forms and fit testing protocols required for onsite testing.
• All certifications must be current and meet AHA standards; certificates of completion are not accepted.
