Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Shift Details

• Unit: Medical ICU
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Scheduling: Based on unit needs; no block schedules available
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend/holiday
• Float Requirement: Must float to other adult ICUs as needed
• Charting System: Epic

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Massachusetts RN license
• Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience highly preferred (will consider under 2 years)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• Prior Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued ID required
• Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, and federal databases
• Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education or transcript with graduation date
• Statewide iCORI (Massachusetts) clearance required within 30 days prior to start
• Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions
• Drug Testing: Within 30 days of start, including multiple drug panels (Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methaqualone, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Methadone, Propoxyphene, Fentanyl, Oxycodone)
• Immunizations/Vaccinations or Declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU):

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination with documentation)
• TB Testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; if positive, chest x-ray and facility-specific TB questionnaire required
• Pass/Fail Testing: Medication exam required; Telemetry exam required for RNs working in telemetry units (including Labor & Delivery) with only one attempt allowed; minimum passing score 80% on orientation day to avoid cancellation
• NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start
• Employment Application: Must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• References: Two references within three years of start
• Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to pass competency exams including medication and EKG/dysrhythmia exams as applicable
• COVID-19 vaccine declination requires a specific attestation form if declining the updated vaccine released 9/12/23
• Facility-specific declinations for vaccines are not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, and NICU units
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific health and background documentation requirements prior to start
