MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform high-quality MRI examinations under general supervision following established protocols for physician interpretation.
- Duties include general MRI exams and specialized imaging such as implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI.
- Potential float between two outpatient clinic locations.
- No call requirement.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (12:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
- Weekend requirement: Saturdays 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on a rotating basis
- Alternative shift options considered: 4x10 hour shifts (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM) or 3x12 hour shifts (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
- Total 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of MRI experience (higher value used if discrepancies found)
- Certification: ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT required; state license not required
- BLS certification required
- Radiation badge required; must be provided by the agency (facility does not provide)
- Experience with Siemens MRI equipment required; experience with Sectra and Epic preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must provide government-issued photo ID
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, confirming good health and ability to work without restrictions
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Required immunizations and documentation:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted for Mumps and Rubella only)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines, documented chickenpox history, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Completion of orientation modules within 5 days of start
- Photo for badge required prior to start
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in general MRI exams and specialized imaging techniques (implants, elastography, defecography, breast, cardiac)
- Ability to work with Siemens MRI equipment
- Familiarity with Sectra and Epic systems preferred
Work Environment & Other Information
- Facility type: Outpatient clinic
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Teal top, black pants
- Radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
