Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Whitesburg, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), and Nursery units within a Level 1 acute care setting.
• Must have experience with Meditech EMR.
• Float within scope of practice as needed.
• Work schedule: Every other weekend required; blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Shift options:

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Staffing ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Experience in Postpartum and Nursery care
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid Driver’s License

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks must follow a specific 9-panel drug and criminal screening package, updated annually.
• Drug testing required within 30 days of start, including expanded opiates and oxycodone screening.
• Annual physical exam or physician’s note stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Immunizations and health documentation required prior to start:

  • Negative TB test (Qgold only, renewed annually) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (valid within 10 years)
  • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated if facial hair present. Medical or religious exemptions must be submitted on day one.
• Annual competency exams required, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (except Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg units).
• Required to complete facility-specific orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
• Must complete and maintain all facility-specific health and compliance forms, including employee health attestations and immunization tracking.

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references within one year of start date required; one must be a supervisor or higher. Charge RN acceptable for one reference only.
• Seven-year work history verification required, preferably through a third-party vendor; attestation letters accepted if verification attempts are exhausted.
• Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time.

• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
