Travel Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro

Location: Portland, Oregon

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Float: Position floats between units and facilities within reasonable distance; floating to other units/facilities is expected based on skill set.
• On-Call: Required; must remain available if shift is cancelled.
• Weekends: Required every other weekend.
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients.
• Block Schedules: Not required.
• Special Requirements: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Vehicle: Must have a vehicle for assignment travel.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
• Immunizations and screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer/declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer/declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
• Fit mask testing required for travel assignments (updated annually).

Competencies and Training

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (updated annually).
• Epic electronic health record training required prior to or shortly after orientation.
• Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp) required.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete float policy acknowledgement.
• Must comply with all state-specific licensing and background requirements.
• Must provide a passport-style photo for badge issuance.
• Must have a valid government-issued photo ID and Social Security card for employment verification.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Floating to multiple locations within the region is common; additional incentives and accommodations may be provided for floating to certain locations.
• 48-hour shifts are not approved for this assignment.
