Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Day shifts: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours (06:30 AM – 07:00 PM)
• Call shifts: 4-6 call shifts every 6 weeks (weekdays 7 PM–7 AM, weekends 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
• Response time for call: 45 minutes
• Holiday coverage may be required
• Rest period of up to 8 hours provided if working after midnight call
• No block scheduling available
• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care in general surgery, orthopedics, orthopedic trauma, and plastics
• Circulating nurse role required; scrub nurse role preferred
• Float within the operating room service line as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in orthopedics, orthopedic trauma, and plastic surgery

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending at start)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels, must remain valid throughout assignment
• Fit mask testing annually (N95 respirators required)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Two negative TB tests or acceptable alternatives within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Facility-specific documents including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
  • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules completion (approximately 16 hours)

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
• Must complete all required background and state-specific checks for Missouri
• Vehicle registration form required for day shift workers
• Badge photo meeting facility standards required

Notes

• Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts every 13 weeks
• Call shifts and float assignments may adjust based on staffing needs
• Candidates may be called in during rest periods for breaks or shift relief
• No block scheduling accommodations available
