Travel Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities as needed (agency staff float first)
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local Radius: 60 miles (locals not accepted)
• Block Schedule: May be requested but not guaranteed
• Hurricane Season: Assignments during June-November may include emergency response duties

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Identification: Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
• Employment Verification: Proof of 2 clinical references and performance evaluation dated within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Not required for this facility
• Education Verification: Not required for this facility
• Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; Nursys verification required for RN license

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
• Immunizations & Titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination; boosters allowed if low/non-reactive titer
• TB Testing: Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start; chest x-ray if positive
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
• Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use
• COVID-19: Vaccination not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation deadline December 5

Orientation & Facility Specifics

• Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4 hours for this location
• Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required (frontal view, solid light background)
• Acknowledgments & Agreements: Must sign assignment acknowledgment, confidentiality agreements, code of conduct, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, and complete user access request before start
