Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
  • Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required.
  • Patient care areas include telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
  • Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
  • Experience in telemetry, ventilator, and transplant patient care.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Successful completion of Telemetry competency testing prior to start.

Certifications & Testing Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certified.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA certified.
  • Telemetry pass/fail testing (Adult Telemetry Test via LMS platform) with remediation process if needed.
  • Annual renewal of certifications and testing as required by facility.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Immunization and health document requirements:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions allowed.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination form.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
  • Drug screening per agency standards (not required annually unless working in pharmacy).
  • Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
  • Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing policies.

Additional Requirements

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard).
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
  • Wisconsin state-mandated caregiver screening and BID form must be completed and stored in compliance file.

Work Hours

  • 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each).
  • Night shift primarily, with some weekend and holiday coverage.
