Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Support cardiologists, radiologists, and registered nurses in the Interventional Radiology Lab.
  • Perform technical analysis and assist with procedures under cardiologist supervision.
  • Provide patient assessment, monitoring, and communication to ensure safe and precise treatment.
  • May mentor and train students.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.

Schedule

  • 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (Monday to Friday)
  • Shift start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
  • No weekend requirement, but rotating nights and weekend calls are required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in California
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and nationwide checks
  • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
  • Education verification required (not required if highest education is high school)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
  • TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually

Documentation and Verification

  • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
  • Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates
  • Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
  • Hard copy of professional license required if verification does not include license number

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Candidate must review and sign facility policies including:
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Standards of business conduct
    • Vendor training and code of conduct (for contract years 2024 and beyond)
    • Overpayment refund policy
    • General regulatory orientation for contracted workers
  • TB questionnaire must be signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN)
  • Pending background check attestation not accepted; conditional clearances require facility approval
  • Religious exemption forms required for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccine exemptions

Additional Notes

  • ICU & MS/Telemetry RNs at this facility are required to take an onsite EKG exam after start (not applicable here but noted for reference)
  • Venipuncture certification may be required for some MRI and CT techs (verify if applicable)
  • Medication and competency exams may be required as applicable to profession
