Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and MS experience required)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule & Work Details

• 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• Every other weekend required
• No call shifts
• Required to float between units
• Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts may be available and flexed as needed
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• MS/Telemetry and Medical-Surgical experience required
• Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Certifications & Licenses

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended (verify unit-specific requirements)
• Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC)
• State nursing license verification required
• NURSYS verification required

Orientation & Training

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Various facility-specific training and acknowledgements required annually (e.g., safety manual, dress code, influenza policy)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for TN-licensed/certified candidates
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing required onsite
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Notes

• Candidate must complete photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
• Various facility-specific forms and policies must be reviewed and acknowledged
• References: minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal
• Medication and competency exams required as applicable
