Medical Surgical RN

Job Overview

• Travel/contract RN position in Smithtown, New York
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, administer medications, document progress, and manage care for medical-surgical patients
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and ancillary staff to support patient outcomes and satisfaction
• Provide safety intervention, emotional support, patient education, and relationship-based care

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Hiring Requirements

• Driver’s license or state ID with address and clear photo
• 7-year employment history with all gaps explained
• Background check and state/federal exclusion screening
• Education verification or diploma/transcript
• Pass/fail testing for medication and EKG/dysrhythmia competency
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam
• Physical exam using the facility-specific form
• Fit testing for an N95 mask
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray
• Immunization/documentation requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and COVID preference
• Standard 9-panel drug screen
• Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing and facility forms before start
