Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

• Temp role in Des Moines, Iowa
• Nights shift
• 13-week contract
• 108-bed children’s hospital environment
• 12-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with all private rooms

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with NICU patients
• Driver's License
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• Equipment experience with vents and high flow
• Equipment experience with alaris IV pumps and feeding pumps
• Professional reference / reference check from charge, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months

Float Scope

• May float to NICU, Gen Peds, and ED as helping hands
• When floated to NICU, the RN may care for “feeders and growers” and not the sickest tiniest babies

Additional Notes

• Local candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license
• Contractor is required to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed
• Orientation dates listed: 10/26, 11/9, 11/23, 12/7
• Sooner starts are prioritized
