Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist
Location: Foxborough, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 07:30 AM – 04:00 PM
Job Summary
Under general supervision, operate ultrasound imaging equipment to acquire diagnostic images and communicate sonographer impressions to interpreting physicians. Modify scan techniques independently to optimize image quality. Provide patient care, collaborate with staff, and participate in departmental initiatives including call, holiday, and shift rotations. May rotate among main campus and community locations with training.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers (full name and date of birth) and review exam orders and clinical history.
- Prepare and clean ultrasound equipment and rooms; maintain stock levels.
- Communicate clearly with patients, addressing physical and emotional needs while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal use of ultrasound scanners.
- Perform clinical ultrasound exams and oversee/instruct sonographers, staff, and students on equipment operation and protocols.
- Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects related to ultrasound exams.
- Provide on-call, holiday, and flexible shift coverage as required.
Required Qualifications
- Professional license verification required prior to start; Massachusetts conditional licenses are not accepted.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred).
- Completion of a skills checklist within one year of submission.
- Must submit a recent professional photo (color, plain background, no filters or eyeglasses).
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- TB test within 3 months prior to start (skin test or blood test)
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year, updated annually (no exemptions allowed)
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year
- Criminal background checks including:
- National and Massachusetts CORI background checks within 45 days prior to start
- Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Verification of highest education level achieved (except CNA positions).
- Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
- Two professional references within the last 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
- Completion of a candidate submission coversheet for initial assignment.
