Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care. Position is within a hospital system in Wichita, KS.

Required Credentials and Onboarding Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
• Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
• BLS (AHA): Required prior to onboarding.
• ACLS (AHA): Required prior to onboarding.
• CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion: Must be completed prior to start.
• NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years.
• Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current and valid.

Testing & Exams

• Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Required prior to onboarding.
• Ascension Specialty Exam: Must be completed before first assignment and updated every 3 years; minimum 80% passing score.
• Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score.
• Ascension EKG Exam: Must be completed with at least 80% passing score; only two attempts allowed.
• Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.

Health & Immunizations

• MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required; no declinations accepted.
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history required; no declinations accepted.
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
• Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing; TB questionnaire updated annually.
• Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
• Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
• 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually; includes testing for 12 specified substances.

Professional Documentation

• Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
• Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
• Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender check; updated annually.
• Employment Verification: Past 7 years required; updated annually.
• Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work; must be completed within 90 days of start.
• Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions.
• Onboarding Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire education modules required.
• Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
• Nova StatStrip Training: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.

Optional Credentials

• Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader.
• CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion: Completed at orientation.
• Positive PPD Documentation: Must provide chest X-ray and TB questionnaire.
• Hiring Manager Evaluation: Post-assignment evaluation.
• Name Change Documentation: Legal documentation if applicable.
