Job Opportunity: Travel RN - Medical/Surgical

Job Description

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions appropriately.
• Coordinate care across all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Compliance and Testing

• Ascension Specialty Exam (passing score ≥ 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., passing score ≥ 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension EKG Exam (passing score ≥ 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
• Ascension Epic Test-Out (completion prior to start)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted.
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season; exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
• TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire.
• Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days prior to start.
• 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.

Additional Requirements

• Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.
• Employment and Education Verification within 90 days prior to start; updated annually.
• Driver’s License/State ID valid and matching address requirements.
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
• Professional references: At least two required prior to first assignment.

Notes

• Various onboarding and compliance checklists and attestations required prior to or at start of assignment.
• Must be able to complete all required documentation and testing as specified.
