Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at a Level III trauma center. The facility provides a wide range of services including medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer care, nephrology, pediatrics, behavioral health, and extensive imaging and lab testing. The Emergency Department has 48 beds with flex space and serves a diverse patient population including ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, and substance abuse cases.
Position Details
- Role: RN - Emergency Medicine
- Shift: Mids (combination of 10am-10pm and 12pm-12am)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum two weekends per schedule
- Call: None
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
- Team Model: Team nursing and Pod System
- Equipment Used: Zoll Defibrillator, Level One Blood Transfuser, QinFlow Blood Warmer, Hospira Plum360, Freestyle and iSTAT POC devices, Ultrasound Guided IV
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing
- Preferred: 2 years of Emergency Department experience
- Must have skills/experience in trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation

- RN with ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) required

- Social worker and unit educator assigned to the department

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
