Physical Therapist (PT) - Travel Position

Location: Ardmore, Oklahoma
Specialty: Physical Therapy (Rehab)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Shift: Days, 5x8 (36 hours per week guaranteed)
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: As required by facility
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • License Required: Current or Temporary Physical Therapy license in Oklahoma
  • Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA
  • Years of Experience Required: 1+ year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Work Environment

  • Unit: Inpatient Acute and Inpatient Rehab (evaluations only)
  • Patient Load: Approximately 10-11 patients per day in acute care
  • Team Composition:
    • 1 other inpatient PT
    • 2.5 Occupational Therapists (OTs)
    • 2 Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs)
    • 1 Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
    • 1 Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
    • Additional PTAs and COTAs in inpatient rehab
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Dress Code: Black scrubs

Job Responsibilities

Initial Assessment and Plan of Care

  • Perform initial patient evaluations using objective tests with no errors
  • Establish functional treatment goals with patient/caregiver input
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
  • Document evaluations, plans of care, and FIM scores according to policy

Treatment Administration

  • Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, and treatment procedures
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients/caregivers
  • Reassess and update treatment goals as needed
  • Use safety and infection control protocols
  • Manage patient load according to productivity standards
  • Communicate with referring physicians as required
  • Provide written home exercise instructions and educate patients/families

Documentation

  • Maintain daily progress notes and departmental records
  • Document interim and discharge notes timely
  • Notify physicians of changes in patient status or treatment
  • Document weekly evaluations and education activities
  • Ensure accurate patient charge entry daily

Professional Development and Department Participation

  • Attend 80% of departmental in-service/staff meetings and 100% of mandatory hospital meetings
  • Participate in CQI/FOCUS activities and continuing education
  • Maintain current CPR certification and state license
  • Assist in orientation and supervision of new employees and students
  • Provide in-services after external training

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with adult and geriatric patient care

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no exceptions)
