PACU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Temp position
  • 40 hours per week
  • 10-hour day shifts
  • Call may be required
  • Must live at least 50 miles away

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in District of Columbia
  • PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience)
  • PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
  • PALS
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Preoperative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pre-op and PACU experience
  • BSN
  • CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor post-operative recovery and consciousness after anesthesia
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Observe for side effects of anesthesia medication
  • Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms as prescribed
  • Update charting, patient files, and medical records
  • Educate patients and families on post-surgery care
