Unit Overview

MedSurg/Telemetry unit with 48 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
Telemetry is monitored remotely
RN is required to interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift

Required Qualifications

RN license
BLS certification
ACLS certification
Ability to read basic telemetry strips
Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA

Preferred Experience

Cerner experience recommended

Responsibilities / Clinical Focus

Care for patients with COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, and general orthopedic and spinal surgical needs
May need to titrate drips only if applicable to unit practice; no RN drip titration required on this unit
Common set-rate drip: diltiazem

Scheduling

Self-scheduling used, with final schedule balanced by the manager
2 weekends per 4-week schedule
Holiday coverage includes Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving
No call or standby

Floating

May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Orientation

1 shift of unit orientation

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs
