Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR RN)

Location: Bakersfield, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Support Interventional Radiologist during imaging invasive procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, drainage, and sedation monitoring.
• Coordinate Interventional Radiologist schedule and collaborate with floor RNs and imaging technicians.
• Assist with sedation, pacemaker procedures, and peripheral IV placement.
• Patient care includes both inpatient and outpatient settings; pediatric patients may be involved.

Work Schedule

• 8-hour day shifts, 5 days per week (40 hours/week).
• Alternating weekend rotation and night/on-call rotation.
• Typical hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, Saturday 8am-12 noon, with on-call after hours.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required.
• Experience in Interventional Radiology preferred.

Orientation & Training

• Department-specific orientation includes 3-4 different day shifts.
• Additional department orientation provided.

Work Environment & Equipment

• Use of Cerner EMR system.
• Equipment includes MRI-safe pumps and EKG monitors.
• No dedicated IR techs; support provided by IR MD, CT, MRI, US, and Radiology staff.
• Dress code: navy blue scrubs.

Patient & Case Load

• Average 8-15 cases per day.
• Procedures involve multiple imaging suites/labs: CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray, MRI, Nuclear Medicine.

Additional Notes

• Imaging Director and manager available on-site weekdays.
• No charge nurse assigned per shift.
