Location: Carroll, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (Monday - Friday, 6:45am - 3:15pm)

Unit Information

• Unit: Operating Room (OR)
• Number of Suites: 5 ORs, 1 OB/OR, 1 Endoscopy suite
• Average Cases per Day: 12
• Common Cases:

  • Mako total joints
  • DV hernias and gallbladders
  • Endoscopy
  • Pacemaker
  • C-section
  • Exploratory laparotomy
  • Cataracts
  • Urology
  • ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat)
  • Pediatrics: Appendectomy, foreign body removal (ear or nose), tonsils, tubes, post-tonsil bleed management
• Surgeons: Orthopedic, General, ENT, Endo, Cardio, Urology

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Work Environment & Scheduling

• Call Requirements:

  • Minimum one weeknight per week (3:15pm - 7am) with 1 nurse and 1 tech on call
  • One weekend per month (Friday 3:15pm - Monday 7am)
  • Minimum one holiday on call
• Call Response Time: 30 minutes
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling
• Dress Code: Hospital-provided scrubs
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided (at least half a day, with additional case-specific orientation as needed)
• EMR System: Meditech
