Registered Nurse (RN) – Medsurg/Ortho

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Details

• Unit: 7NE - Ortho/Telemetry
• Total Beds: 22
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Charge Nurse available 24/7
• Nurse Aides: 3 CNAs per shift (ratio 1:7-8)
• Telemetry available, but RNs are not required to read strips
• Respiratory Therapy and equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow) as needed
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Royal Blue
• Unit-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts on the unit, including weekend dayshift (7:00 am–7:30 pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Patient Population & Experience Requirements

• Patient Types: Orthopedic patients including joints, replacements, and fractures
• Must have strong orthopedic experience with Total Joint Replacement experience (not just fractures)

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• Night shifts available (note: job title states Days, but additional info references Nights)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers expected to work holidays
• Floating: Possible float to units 7E, 7W, 10W, 10E

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS Certification required
• Must hold an active RN license

Additional Requirements & Notes

• COVID-19 Vaccine Required: Fully vaccinated means 2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose of J&J

  • Medical or religious exemptions require approval through a formal exemption process
• Submission Restrictions:

  • Can only submit to one position at a time across the entire system
  • Driver’s license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
  • Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years
  • Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after 1 full year of travel at this facility
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
• Only 2 candidates submitted per opening; additional submissions held until a spot opens

Clinical Practice Notes

• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• No common titratable or set rate drips on this unit

This position is ideal for RNs with solid orthopedic med-surg experience, especially in total joint replacement care, who are comfortable working in a telemetry environment without the responsibility of reading strips or titrating drips.
