Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics position at a Level I Trauma academic medical center, requiring strong total joint replacement experience and an active WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg Orthopedics unit (7NE) in a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital setting
• 22-bed unit serving orthopedic patients including joint replacements and fractures
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 with 3 CNAs per shift; CNA ratio of 1:7–8
• Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit, but RNs are not required to read strips
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour day shifts; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend requirement (or 2 weekend shifts per schedule)
• May be required to float to units 7E, 7W, 10W, or 10E
• Holiday rotation coverage expected for travelers
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong orthopedic nursing experience required, specifically with total joint replacements (not fractures alone)
• Current BLS certification required
• BSN not required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested via the facility's exemption process
• Orientation consists of 1–2 shifts on the unit
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year; after reaching that threshold, a 2-year break is required before returning
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
• Submission profile must include: 7 years of work history (or from graduation, whichever is less) with no gaps greater than 30 days, two references (at least one supervisor), a skills checklist completed within the past year, and copies of certifications and driver's license
