Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Santa Monica, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: ASAP

Shift Details

• Weekdays: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
• Rotating weekends: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Weekend call required: rotating weekend call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• On-call requirement: Standby rotation on Saturdays and Sundays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
• Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification

Facility Type

• Acute Care Hospital (beachside location)
• Total staffed beds: 266
• Charting system: Epic

Compliance and Documentation

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
• Fit mask testing required (annual update), with specific mask types accepted

Training and Competencies

• Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:

  • Annual regulatory requirements
  • Specialty-specific modules for Radiology/Ultrasound
  • Epic training modules (completion required before moving to paid status)
• Medication and competency exams as applicable
• Color blindness testing if required by unit

References and Employment History

• Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least the last 5 years (7 years for advanced practice nurses)
• Skills checklist updated annually as applicable

This position offers a dynamic schedule with rotating weekend and on-call responsibilities in a beachside acute care hospital setting. Candidates must be experienced Ultrasound Technologists with required certifications and licensure, ready to start immediately.
